It’s been a while since I spilled a #MomTruthThursday, and right now I’m sitting on my deck in my pjs (a bit cold tbh) with a boat of tea, ensuring my children do not hear me. .
.
As parents we give so much of ourselves away, but as Moms it is amplified. We nourish our family all while starving ourselves. We are their safe place, and often the one who takes the brunt of the attitude and tantrums. All while doing the laundry, making meals, packing lunches, picking out clothing, cleaning the house, remembering everyone’s schedule (DON’T FORGET THE DANG LIBRARY BOOK), chauffeuring to events, buying the bday gifts, etc. etc and doing it all with a smile. .
.
Last week was a toughie for me, and I felt myself on the verge of a freak-out almost every day. Finding patience to handle the day’s tribulations through lack of sleep, and just plain annoyance is sometimes hard. .
.
We dig deep, don’t we? We swallow our own needs and bite our tongues because telling a child they are being an unreasonable asshole is frowned upon. Especially in H&M when your kid NEEDS EVERYTHING! .
.
This week I planned on doing better by making my family do better. But guess what?! I did nothing to change the situation so there has been no change!! .
.
Break out the chore chart. Perhaps hubby needs one too? 🤷‍♀️. I can’t feel resentment for doing everything when it’s me that makes sure I do everything! Why do we do this to ourselves, Ladies?! I’m not blaming myself. But, kinda. Would the world collapse if I stayed out here on my deck? .
.
This isn’t about ‘Mom doing better’ because F that, I give my family my all. It’s time for THEM to do better. .
.
And for more tea. Definitely time for more tea.
